You can change your existing underperforming EDMS application with a next generation EDMS system, seamlessly and quickly!

What if I said that you could change your existing underperforming EDMS application with a new Next generation EDMS system, seamlessly, quickly, without issue and importantly cost effectively.

There was a time when change within the NHS was hard to come by, systems supplied by large enterprise organisations would be “shoe horned in” and that was that. The supplier would be gifted an opportunity to work multiple add-ons in as part of a lengthy contract and drain the NHS of its funding whilst clinical users would rarely see the real benefits of the system in full operational use or the way it was sold to them.

Well, the NHS like all large organisations has adapted and embraced change and is starting to make radical and drastic adjustments in order to charge ahead with government led deadlines by adopting digital technologies and transformation programmes as an enabler.

Within the EDMS space there has been for a number of years (I have been part of this sector for more than a decade now) a small cohort of systems supplied with varying degrees of success, in fact a conversation I had internally with a colleague who has worked in the Healthcare sector for over 20 years (for the NHS) commented that not an awful lot has really changed with EDMS suppliers and their approach to the technology, implementation and change.

It’s easy to say that at IMMJ we are different, but we really are.  An example of this is the word “interoperability” which is coined a lot, we believe this stands for complete openness with systems talking to each other and sharing information, an issue still a huge block in the way of providing joined up care, something that we at IMMJ have built into the heart of our application in other words “complete openness” across the entire product suite.

We know that there are close to 160 deployments of EDMS systems in the UK healthcare sector in varying guises and only an extremely small handful of these have actually been successfully deployed.

There remains close to 150+ deployments (a lot of these departmentally) where the technology has been partially deployed, user engagement issues are always a problem and cannot always detract from poor or second-rate technology, but mainly the technology was not really fit for purpose but with my first point has remained in place regardless out of fear or inertia to change.

This creates an issue for many Hospital sites, what do they do now? Upgrade to the new version and hope for the best, take the many add-ons in the hope it will enable the drive to roll out or…. bury their heads in the sand and hope the problem will go away.

The latter comment, or the “bury their heads in the sand” is not a throw away remark.

What many Trusts have embarked upon to avoid EDMS technology is through the deployment of EPR platforms, in the notion that this will choke paper generation out by holding all valuable clinical patient related information in the EPR thus avoiding the need for an EDMS system altogether.

EPR’s are long haul commitments and not inexpensive ones either, and I am a firm believer they are the correct route but not at the price of ignoring the many tens of thousands of physical case notes that remain in circulation even when beaming of a successful EPR deployment, hoping they will simply disappear. It just doesn’t work that way in reality, unfortunately we know this from a number of recent experiences in that no matter how well developed the EPR system is, an EDMS systems will and still have a strong place in this world for some time to come.

So, onto the matter in point. What if I said that we could implement our best of breed “next generation” EDMS platform, migrate your legacy data or even live patient data (this can also be from other third party clinical applications) from your existing EDMS seamlessly and easily?

Well that’s exactly what we can do at IMMJ with our Advanced Document Importerdesigned to harvest data quickly from one host application to the MediViewer EDMS platform.

As an example of statistics that you can rely on;

Total Images Size Time to migrate

100,000,000 2.5TB 24 Days

200,000,000 5TB 48 Days

300,000,000 7.5TB 72 Days

400,000,000 10TB 96 Days

500,000,000 12.5TB 120 Days

All of this data would be subject to OCR, and BCR recognition and placed through the IMMJ Systems SmartIndex™ Document Classification engine, which means that you can easily filter for key documents without the need for extensive manual indexing requirements as we simply do not differentiate between legacy and new (Day Forward) content.

The migration process can also be completed from within our Tier 3 cloud data centre (#UKCloud), removing the overheads of having to provide the migration servers and in-house resources to be able to complete the task and simply decommissioned when the migration is complete.

What this means is that YOU are not stuck with your existing platform, YOU are not tied in and CAN change to a new “next generation” system delivered from a team that CANsupport you through the implementation and transformation process ensuring that this investment WILL deliver the benefits you always wanted to see!
